Toffee Almond Crowns, with a twist

The amazing Steve Gisselbrecht modified his Toffee Almond Crown recipe [pages 131] and swapped out the wheat flour for arepa (corn) flour and made these beauties for my birthday! (Typically subbing out flours like this doesn't work, but in this recipe it did and boy were they delicious.)
